Blaise Hamlet

This thatched rubble stone cottage was built in 1811 in a little place called Blaise Hamlet near Bristol, England. The cottage, along with the rest of the hamlet, is owned by the UK’s National Trust [www.nationaltrust.org.uk/blaise-hamlet/].

If the home pushes all your buttons there’s a good reason for it. It’s a wonderful illustration of many of the patterns from ‘A Pattern Language’ [www.naturalhomes.org/show/pattern/getslide.htm].

The hamlet was designed by John Nash, a master of the picturesque architectural style and designer of a very famous house in London, namely Buckingham Palace
